The First of Many Happy Memories

Today was a exciting day for Grandma Enright! Last night they arrived at our house after her first ever trip on a plane. On the plane she flew over mountains, deserts, and Las Vegas. She took pictures and stared out the window. I think if you ask her, she would tell you that she couldn't do anything but stare in awe out the window!

Today we took my in-laws to Breakers Beach on Coronado's Naval Air Base. At the beach Cheryl (my mother-in-law) and Oliver both put their toes in the Pacifac Ocean, a first for them both! Oliver has been to the beach before, but never put his toes in the water, and it was exciting for him. It's easy to see excitement in a child, but to see excitement in a Grandma for experiencing something new is somewhat rare. Alot of us take for granted a day trip to the beach. Some people may go their whole lives and never see the blue horizon of the ocean. Cheryl got out in those waves in her clothes and threw her arms up in the air and spun around and let the water almost knock her over! Several times I thought we would have to go rescue her. She finished off our beach trip building a sand castle and letting Skyler demolish it. I think everyone had a fun time.
I'm sure we'll have some more firsts later this week!

Preparing for Company!

Yesterday I had the downstairs of my house spotless, because I was expecting a bunch of moms and babies to be coming over to sniff some candles and let the kids play in my playroom! I knew it was going to be fun, but I also expected alot to clean up after, I was SO wrong, all I had to do was pick up toys! I was pretty amazed!
The playdate was awesome, so many different personalities in one room, but everyone got along great. Before I used to think that diversity amongst women created a bit of drama, but now I tend to think that unoriginal woman and the need/desire to be liked/belong is the real reason that some woman bring drama to a group. I am so thankful, for these easy-going relaxed mommas who have their own opinions, their own lifestyles and don't judge each other! I am greatful.

So another reason I have to clean, my In-laws are visiting tomorrow, they will be staying with us for a week.
We will be entertaining on a budget, and I will definatly keep you updated as to how that goes! Anyone on a single income, let alone military income, knows how hard it is to make the pennies stretch! I am trying to plan meals, and day trips so none of us have to fork out much money!
Meanwhile, while I plan in my head I am busy doing laundry, vacuuming, cleaning, and watching two monsters... my day is crazy and its only lunchtime!!

Have Lemons, make lemonade and make it pretty!

 Monday June 6, 2011

Yesterday, Caleb, Oliver and I visited some of our friends from my husbands ship. Rachyl's husband Richard is gone for a while and she hates to do yardwork, so my very generous husband volunteered to help her out. Rachyl has this amazing lemon tree with probably hundreds of lemons growing on it in her backyard. It was amazing the way she described how it was a never-ending supply of fruit! Can you imagine always having a supply of lemons?

What would you make if you brought home a bag full of these fresh, ripe lemons? Rachyl suggested lemonade so using the WHOLE lemon, I did just that.

When making fresh lemonade you have to remember the 1:1:1 rule. For every cup of lemon juice you use, you need a cup of sugar and a cup of water! Then about 3 more cups once it's mixed to dilute it! I doubled my recipe and made about 3/4 gallon of fresh lemons and still had over HALF of my stash of lemons!
Of course this was a great experience for my new camera as well! Today I purchased my first DSLR! She is a Canon Rebel T3, and I am in awe of the clarity of the photos and the quality of the image. I am so greatful to my friends, alot who are established photographers for their support and encouragement. I'm lucky to have people willing to teach me and show me how to improve as a photographer and use my camera correctly. I will probably never be an amazing photographer, but I can dream and enjoy my own personal photos!

Oliver is teething right now so while I made lemonade he watched with a frozen waffle in hand! He is such a sweet little guy and I must thank him for being such a cooperative little model today! He is the best!

Seaworld!

Today our little family went to seaworld! It was a nice little getaway for the day and went rather smoothly for us as compared to when Oliver was a little smaller!

We bought one of those All Day Dining passes, but just one, and I went through the line like 4 times, so definetly think we got our $30.00 worth! We watched the Shamu show, which was really disappointing, but watching Skyler get so excited watching Shamu swim and jump made me choke up a little, being a mom and seeing all these new discoveries your child makes for the first time definetly brings out this odd emotion you NEVER could experience growing up, and I sometimes feel extremly sorry for the women who make the conscience decision to not have children. They will never know this emotion or love that a child brings to a woman. It is so life-changing and world altering, totally changes your entire being! I can relate to many moms who say it changes their world.

We also watched the pets rule show and it made me sad that I "gave up" on Bailey. Yea she was a handful and very hard to care for on top of 2 little boys, but the thing Caleb told me that made me feel better was we didn't just "dump" her somewhere, we responsibly found her a loving home and one that I know for a fact loves her dearly.

My post is written quickly and spur of the moment while I had a chance while my three monsters are snoozing in the living room, it is only 7:45, but with all the sun we got and all the days activities (and food!) we are all so very pooped.

Please Remember those that have given the ultimate sacrifice today on Memorial Day, many people are missing their heroes today while we celebrate our day off of work! Have a good week everyone!
